It’s not all bad.
The problem with doing an ongoing ‘review’ blog is it’s very easy to concentrate on the negative experience and omit to mention the joyful ones. One of the main ‘joys’ of the N96 is its physical design, now this is a matter of taste. Some have said its merely an oversized N81 - what harm - the N81 was a beautiful device - hampered by a poor camera, n-gage delays and being massively over priced for its target demographic.
Its slimmer and lighter (though the width and height are greater) than the N95 / N95 8gb, and that slimness really makes it feel nice, and it goes in pockets with ease rather than a struggle (even skinny jeans!!). It’s not as a bad a finger print magnet as I expected - compared to the iPhone 3G and HTC Diamond.
I’m warming to the mystery button / spinning menu shortcuts thing.
The battery life seem better than the N95 (not hard i hear you say).
I love the keypad and tons internal memory. I just wish that given 9 odd months to perfect it - they could of got the software a bit more solid. I almost avoid doing things to avoid a crash.
iPlayer is awesome, now you can download. But this isn’t N96 only so shouldn’t really be a reason to buy this phone - but other than the upcoming 5800 - you need the bigger screen to really enjoy video on the move.
